Troubleshoot SAP BODS Installation Errors

When we started installing SAP BODS client on our local systems to be connected to the SAP BODS server on a remote server, we faced a lot of errors, which we solved one by one.

First and foremost, the user account using which SAP BODS client is being installed should have administrator privileges
Also check out the supported environments before proceeding with installation.

The below error indicates that either the system name, port number, user name or password is wrongly typed!! It is obvious from the error message itself

The below error is a bit tricky to understand as it says something and the fix for it is something else altogether!! It says something failing at the SQL server side but it is not the exact issue here.

To fix this, you have to update 'hosts' file in your Windows PC. It normally can be found in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. Edit it in Notepad and add an entry at the end of the file. Example is give below. First part is the IP address of the BODS Server and second part is the fully qualified name of BODS Server

XXX.YYY.ZZZ.WWW       BODS-SERVER-NAME

Will get back with solution.

We upgraded from Win XP to Win 7 to fix this.

Installed MS Office 2010 on the server to fix this.

The Repository is upgraded to fix this issue.
